Entertaining toddlers through the depths of wet winters can be challenge. But it’s still possible to get outside to run off that extra energy (or at least grab a few gulps of fresh air) with these four wet-weather essentials as prescribed by the kid-gear experts at TJ’s the Kiddie Store.
1. Muddy Buddy
What Kleenex is to tissues, Muddy Buddy (by TUFFO) is to full-body, water-proof rain suits. These head-to-toe, seamless garments can be quickly pulled over existing clothes and have plenty of front zippers for quick changes. Also come with elasticized hood with brim to shed water and elasticized wrist and ankle cuffs to fit over mitts and boots. Available in sizes 12 to 60 months and machine washable.

2. Rain Boots
Water-proof with thick, rugged soles. Pull the Muddy Buddy elasticized wrist and ankle cuffs over the boot top for a water-tight seal and guaranteed dry socks (mostly).
3. Stroller Rain Cover
Not all stroller rain covers are created equal. The Guzzie and Gus 3 in 1 Rain Cover has a universal fit for most brands of bassinet, infant car seat or strollers. What makes this project a particular rainy-day must-have is the quick-access zipper door allows you to easily remove baby without having to remove the rain cover, which often is a messy affair.
4. Quick Dry, Easy-to-Clean Toys
If it works in the bath, it can work in the rain. That means boats, balls and teething rings. Avoid squirters and toys with holes in them that can’t be disassembled for a thorough clean.
